Summary
Lara ends the Thames Wharf by jumping down the bell tower. In Aldwych, we see that it leads to the disused station. Though seemingly abandoned, it has been partly taken over by a group who call themselves the "Damned". They are hostile to Lara throughout this level, and they and their dogs attack her frequently. Lara's journey through the station takes her back and forth through several areas, including platforms and train tracks, within a train, a construction area with a large drill boring down it, a vault, a Freemason temple, and finally the lair of the Damned.
The level ends with a cutscene in which Lara falls down a shaft into the lair of the Damned. She is taken to their leader, a Geordie man called Bob. He tells Lara that he and the other Damned have been duped by Sophia Leigh, such that they have been left faceless and immortal. He agrees to help Lara if she is willing to break into the Natural History Museum and get a bottle of embalming fluid for the Damned. Lara assents.
It must be noted that though Aldwych station is clearly non-functional - for example, certain tracks and platforms are blocked with mud - certain tracks still have trains running on them, which even run down Lara if she wanders down them. A ticket-dispensing machine also works, as does a turnstile, so that Lara can buy a ticket and then use it on the turnstile to gain access to another part of the station. She can even summon and ride on a train for a short distance.
