Crocodiles
Crocodiles appear at various times throughout the Tomb Raider Series. Lara Croft often visits water-based areas and so crocodiles are an obvious aquatic enemy for her to face.

Tomb Raider
Crocodiles first made their appearance in St Francis' Folly, and continue until the Obelisk of Khamoon. They were depicted as rather large specimens with fairly featureless bodies even for the graphical quality of Tomb Raider. They move rather more quickly on land than in water. Despite this, it is preferable to tackle them on land because of Lara's lack of a weapon that is usable in water. They are either found on their own or in pairs.
Crocodiles were well known to the Ancient Romans and Greeks because the many of the animals lived (and continue to live) in the River Nile. In some cases they were worshipped, but often they were sold as exotic pets and to be pitted against other animals and gladiators in amphitheatres.
Tomb Raider III
Smaller and more detailed crocodiles occur in the South Pacific and London levels. They appear to be freshwater specimens, although those in the South Pacific could also be at home in saltwater. In the South Pacific they live in clear pools and lagoons, and do not venture onto land at all. They can be killed using a harpoon gun, but a more popular strategy is to shoot them from dry land. Most often encountered alone, they will sometimes be found in pairs.
In London they are encountered in the sewers and tunnels of Lud's Gate, a reference to a popular urban legend. They will not attack Lara if she is using a UPV, but you can fire harpoons from this vehicle.
The Last Revelation
Crocodiles first appear in the Sacred Lake area of the Temple of Karnak and are also seen at various points in the Cairo levels. They are very similar to those in Tomb Raider III, but can transfer from water to land and vice versa. As Lara does not possess a harpoon gun battling these creatures from land becomes her only option. They can occur in groups of up to three individuals.
Tomb Raider Anniversary
The updated crocodiles in Anniversary move much more quickly, both in water and on land. Again they occur either on their own or as a pair of crocodiles. They are slightly more difficult to combat than in the original, which is considered an overall improvement.
