While it is only reasonable to expect that Lara emerges from the Tomb of Semerkhet east of the river Nile, there is in fact little in the way of railway lines in the Eastern Desert. A more likely course would have been travelling by train up the Nile valley to Alexandria, which lies on the Nile delta on the Mediterranean Sea. From the compass in-game, the train appears to be travelling due east.
