Diving Area
The Diving Area is part of the Offshore Rig. Marco Bartoli's excavation team are getting ready to make a final search of the wreck of the Maria Doria, and Lara must hitch a ride. It is the sixth level of Tomb Raider II.

Summary
The building takes over much of the rig itself, and centres around a square structure where a central control room is located. Various passages lead off to other areas, such as a helipad and a bay for the submersibles to dive from.
Lara must find a way through the maze of passages and corridors while fending off a variety of enemies. At the end of the level, Lara runs into one of the Barkhang Monks, who provides her with more information. He is inadvertently silenced by Bartoli, and Lara, fending off Bartoli's attack, escapes on a submersible to the wreck.
Testimony of Brother Chen Barkhang
The monk that Lara finds in a large gantried room at the end of the level gives Lara more information about her goals. Convinced that she has been sent to show him the way to his next re-incarnation, he takes the moment to tell her about various things that will assist her journey.
The Fiama Nera, and the goal of possessing the Dagger of Xian, are hereditary it would seem. Marco Bartoli's father Gianni also wanted to get it for himself, and had the means in the shape of the Seraph, which is the key to another artefact, the Talion, which can open the door of the Temple of Xian. Brother Chen's father bombed the Maria Doria himself to prevent the Seraph from allowing Gianni access to the temple. Presumably both Gianni and the monk's father died in the shipwreck.
Somehow, Gianni had found out about the location and the power of the dagger, and craved its possession. Rich, powerful and a religious zealot he had the funds and a large gang connected to the Italian mafia to assist him.
Before the monk can say more, he is shot by Marco Bartoli.
