Flares

Flares are objects that are featured in Tomb Raider 2-5. They light up the area around Lara when used, and, depending on the game, they're either red or green in color. Lara can drop a flare after it's been used by drawing her weapons. She can also throw it ahead. Also, Lara can still do most of her actions, such as vaulting, swimming, jumping and grabbing, while she's holding a flare.

In Tomb Raider Legend, during the flash back the level in Peru, players were able to use flares for a short time whilst playing through the flashback.
