Floating Islands
The Floating Islands is a dimensional anomaly that sits between the Temple of Xian and the Dragon's Lair. The Islands are built on huge blocks of brilliant green jade, and there is no visible sky or ground - although there is a supply of oxygen for Lara to breathe. Floating Islands is the sixteenth level in Tomb Raider II.

Notes
The origins of the Floating Islands is unclear, but there are various theories. In any case, the distance between the Temple of Xian and the Dragon's Lair should be smaller than the distance seen in the level - therefore a whole lot of space is compressed into an area much smaller than it should occupy.
This dimensional anomaly may have been created by the same mysterious person or group as the Dagger of Xian. Or perhaps it was created as a result of the mystical forces that allow the dagger to change a person into a dragon.
The Floating Islands, on account of the sheer volume of jade that makes it up, may be the most intrinsically valuable Tomb Raider level to date.
