Gadgets
Gadgets are special devices used for a certain purpose. In every Tomb Raider Lara had gadgets with her that helps to achieve her goal to retrieve ancient artifacts and solve different misteries.

Compass
The most known and only gadget she carries in the first game is the Compass. Unlike Tomb Raider IV, it has no function at all. In The Last Revelation, however, the pointer goes translucent when Lara faces straight to the North, this is helpful to perform the cheatcodes, wich requires an exact position.
Flares
They made their official aparition in Tomb Raider II. Unlike Tomb Raider I, Lara now can lit them up to help herself throught dangerous dark areas. They are useful for finding secrets and has a necessary use in The Lost Artifact, on wich Lara has to lit one flare in order to make The Hand of Rathmore appear. The same technique is used in the Temple Ruins, where she must lit them to make floating platforms visible.
Binoculars
Appearing in The Last Revelation for the first time, they help Lara to see far distances and emit a light that clears dark areas (while wearing them). In Tomb Raider: Legend, they have a special function wich makes the device to emit a sound if an interactive object is spotted.
Headset
The Headset made it's officisl appearance in Tomb Raider: Chronicles. Since then, it has been in the last 3 games. They were originally introduced to permit a realtime communication between Zip and Lara.
Laserlight
The laserlight was introduced in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation for first time and it has appeared in Tomb Raider: Chronicles too. It's use is handful for shooting puzzles and is a very deadly way to use the compatible weapons. Those weapons that can combine with the Laserlight are the Crossbow, the Revolver, the Desert Eagle, and the Grapple Gun.
