Compass

The most known and only gadget she carries in the first game is the Compass. Unlike Tomb Raider IV, it has no function at all. In The Last Revelation, however, the pointer goes translucent when Lara faces straight to the North, this is helpful to perform the cheatcodes, wich requires an exact position.

Flares

They made their official aparition in Tomb Raider II. Unlike Tomb Raider I, Lara now can lit them up to help herself throught dangerous dark areas. They are useful for finding secrets and has a necessary use in The Lost Artifact, on wich Lara has to lit one flare in order to make The Hand of Rathmore appear. The same technique is used in the Temple Ruins, where she must lit them to make floating platforms visible.
