Iris

The Iris is an artefact in Tomb Raider III, Tomb Raider The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles. In Tomb Raider 4, a 16-year old Lara and her mentor Werner Von Croy find the artefact in Angkot Wat,Cambodia. Her mentor ignores the warning Lara gives him about taking the Iris, and enters the chamber where the Iris lays. Just as he reaches for it, the chamber begins to close in. Werner tries to escape, but by doing so he falls and traps his leg inside the chamber. Lara tries to help him, but as the room is collapsing, she has no choice but to leave him. It is not known how Werner escapes from the chamber, but in the sequel, Tomb Raider Chronicles, Lara uses the Iris to teleport her somewhere safe. Perhaps Werner used the Iris in the same way.

In Tomb Raider Chronicles, Winston tells his friends about another adventure of Lara's, in which she breaks into the building of Von Croy Industries, in order to steal the Iris back. She eventually finds, steals, and leaves with the Iris. In Tomb Raider 3 the Iris can be seen in Croft Manor. It can be viewed in Lara's artefact room.
