Post - Legend
Lady Amelia Croft made her second appearance in the Tomb Raider franchise during the opening scene of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider Legend, in which she is seen with Lara on a plane. The plane goes down in the Himalayas due to an engin fire. Both Lara and her mother survive the accident. It is assumed that Amelia and Lara take refuge in or around an old Nepalian temple. Whilst looking for fire wood, Lara comes across a stone dais with an ancient sword stuck in it. Compelled by curiosity, Lara reaches out to touch it thus activating a mysterious "looking glass". From the looking glass, Amelia communicates with an unknown being on the other side. Afraid that the being will try to hurt Lara, Amelia grabs the sword and free's it from the dais. A blinding green light illuminates the temple. When it dissapates, Lara finds herself alone. Amelia Croft vanished from the spot. Upon Lara's return home, Lord Richard Croft is informed of the dissapearence and refuses to believe that his beloved Amelia is dead. Year's later, after Richard's mysterious dissapearence, Lara discovers a stone dais similar to the one she saw in Nepal. After retreving the peices of the ancient sword, Excalibur, Lara activates the dais in Bolivia. When the looking glass rises, Lara finds herself communicating with Amelia on the other side. Immediatly, Lara realizez that she is looking back in time to Nepal. Lara's warnings not to touch the sword, ultimately lead to Amelia removing the sword sealing her fate. Amanda Evert, a former friend of Lara, tells her that her mother isn't dead and if she had pulled out the sword like she told her, Lara would be transported to her mother in the legendary land of Avalon.
Underworld
Lady Amelia Croft is presumably residing in Avalon. Lara continues her fathers search, leading her to Natla, a former enemy who was also presumed dead. Natla tells that Amelia didn't go to Avalon, she went to Helheim, which happens to be just another name for it. Natla sends Lara on a hunt for Thor's Hammer, an artifact that is needed to open the gates of Helheim. Upon arriving in Helheim, Lara finds a woman standing back to, next to a blue void. The woman is dressed in a blue skirt suit, the same thing Amelia was wearing when she dissapeared. Lara addresses the woman, who turns her head and reveals herself as Amelia. But when Amelia turns to face Lara, Lara can see that her mother has become a thrall. The Amelia thrall stubles toward Lara with her arms streatched out as if to embrace her. Overcome by emotions and fear, Lara convinces herself that the thrall isn't her mother and begins to shoot her. Amelia stumbles backward, falling over the edge of a precipice and into the blue void.
After activating another dais, Lara and Amanda find themselves back in Nepal where Amelia dissapeared. Lara bid's her mother a final farewell before leaving the temple.
