Marten Gunderson

Marten Gunderson was a veteran soldier who fought battles in areas of great conflict before he became the leader of a clandestine organisation known as "The Agency" - a very thinly veiled mercenary recruitment company providing anything from the most basic provision of security to an all-out specialist invasion force.

Gunderson is obviously feared in the game, he cuts an imposing figure with his large, solid stature, very little hair on his head and fierce appearance. His voice is firm, unwavering and assertive and his body language is clearly dominant, filling all available space and his walk a confident stride.

During Tomb Raider Chronicles, Lara searches for one of the Obscura painting in the Hall of Seasons deep underneath the Louvre Galleries, Paris, during which time, Gunderson and his mercenaries executed a full-scale assault to in order to retrieve the painting. The assualt was professional, indicating that Gunderson is well-connected and was able to obtain large supplies of assault rifles, machine guns, gas masks, explosives and gas grenades.

While Lara was investigating in the Biodome within the Strahov Fortress, Prague, in the Czech Republic, she turned the power off, causing the inmates of the Sanatarium and the Proto Nephilim to escape. Gunderson and his Mercenaries were deployed again to control the multiple outbreak situation.

Both sieges were purported to have been financed by Eckhardt to facilitate him getting what he wanted, however, this was questionable as during a number of cut-scenes, Eckhardt appeared to have power over Gunderson indicated by excessive blinking whenever Eckhardt made any sort of physical contact.

In the final throes of the adventure, all of the main Cabal members were systematically killed.

Gunderson's whereabouts is unknown.
