A view of the area when Lara first arrives.

The Opera House, like the neighbouring Bartoli Palazzo, is a grand old building that is now abandoned and ruined. Lying on a silted up and bricked in canal, it seems forgotten by the rest of the city of Venice. It is the fourth level of Tomb Raider II.

Summary

Lara enters from a large chute built into the wall opposite the building. She must negociate her way across ledges and platforms in order to find a key to access the roof of the Opera. The buildings she here are a small boxroom and a bridge over the canal.

On top of the building, Lara must cross the roof of what was the foyer. Once she has done so she enters a large square area with the dome of the Opera in the middle. Gaining access to a maintenance booth at one end is her next priority.

Coming out into the Gods, Lara can see what a well-furnished and luxurious place this was to spend an evening. The main auditorium is decorated in painted plaster ceilings, patterned carpets and red curtains. There are four levels for the audience, but no seats or fittings other than the original columns remain.

The orchestra pit is now flooded with water, probably as a result of subsidence. Another symptom of this the is large conglomerations of masonry that will roll across the floor if disturbed from various chutes in the walls. There are also various side rooms - a dressing room, the wings of the stage and a large warehouse building at the back. This is where Lara must go to end the level and stow away on Bartoli's seaplane to the Offshore Rig in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Notes

From various posters found in the canal below the Opera House and the 'B' motif on panes of glass and windows, it is clear that this establishment was and is currently owned by the Bartoli crime family.
