Background

The Ora Dagger was one of at least five that were sculpted by a Polynesian tribe millenia ago in Antarctica from a meteorite that landed there millions of years before. Named the 'Meteorite Artefacts', they formed the basis of a culture centring on the Lost City of Tinnos. In the 19th century it was taken from an ice cave by a sailor on Charles Darwin's expedition around the world.

The Ora Dagger travelled with the remaining three sailors across the Pacific Ocean where the remaining sailors may have changed boats for one going to India via South East Asia and Singapore. On one of the islands in the South Pacific near Papua New Guinea, named 'Kuru' by locals, Smythe met his fate at the hands of the tribe that had originally inhabited the Lost City of Tinnos. Recognising the artefact, they killed and ate him, and presented the artefact to their god or tribal chief, Puna.

Recent History

The Ora Dagger was retrieved from the island of Kuru by Lara Croft when she was employed by Dr. Willard. Moving through the cliffside village, the steamy jungles of the Crash Site and the canyons and waterfalls of Madubu Gorge, Lara reaches the temple of the island's god-king, Puna. After she kills him, she takes the Ora Dagger which was left after he exploded.

Lara took the Ora Dagger and later delivered it to Dr Willard in Antarctica along with three other meteorite artefacts. However, during the course of events they came into her possession again and she now keeps them safe.

Powers

Seemingly required to be with the bearer at all times, but not actually becoming part of their body, the dagger was part of Puna's chair in his sanctum within his temple. Although it grants a control over electrical energy and the creation of matter, it also exerts a parasitical influence over the bearer and physcially weakens them. Puna was unable to move from his chair, but could turn it to face Lara with some form of telekinesis. The dagger also grants a shield to protect against Lara's bullets, but cannot remain while Puna is exerting his other powers of electrical control or creating Lizard Men.

Notes

On some platforms, the Ora Dagger and Element 115 swap names.
