Sanglyph
General Information
Features in the 2003 game The Angel of Darkness An artifact and weapon created by the Black Alchemist Pieter Van Eckhardt in the 15th Century, used in the revival of the Nephilim race.
Timeline
Crafted from an unknown metal, the Sanglyph (or "Blood Sign") was comprised in the shape of five alchemical symbols of power by Pieter Van Eckhardt in the 1400's.
Because of the power and energy that emanated from it, it could only be held when its user was wearing Eckhardt's Glove.
In the mid 1400's Eckhardt sensed that his work was in danger, so he split up the Sanglyph into 5 pieces. He then hid the pieces in five separate artworks which featured evil iconography. The Lux Veritatis captured Eckhardt in 1442, and eventually discovered the pieces of art in which the pieces of the Sanglyph were hidden.
Brother Obscura, the leader of the Lux Veritatis, painted over these pieces of art and from then on they became known as the Obscura Paintings. These paintings were hidden, and secret maps to each painting's location were created and kept safe by the Lux Veritatis.
After the Black Alchemist Eckhardt escaped in 1945, he searched for the Obscura Paintings and the pieces of the Sanglyph.
In 2003 the pieces were finally reunited, however Lara Croft stole it from its creator and used it to destroy the Sleeper in Eckhardt's Laboratory. Whether or not the Sanglyph remained intact after this event is unknown.
