Lara Croft is the main protagonist of Eidos Interactive's popular Tomb Raider Series. Designed by Toby Gard, she has also been featured in films (in which she was portrayed by Angelina Jolie), Comics, Novels, and a series of animated short films.

In 2006, Lara was honoured with a star on the Walk Of Game, and was awarded a Guinness World Record recognizing her as the most successful 'human video game heroine.'

Lara is generally presented as a beautiful, intelligent, athletic, and somewhat reckless Englishwoman of noble birth who travels the world in pursuit of priceless artefacts. Known as both an archaeologist and an adventurer, she frequently ventures into ancient, and often very hazardous, tombs and ruins.

Tomb Raider Underworld marks the first game in this flagship series that is designed specifically for next generation consoles (although also being released on Playstation 2 and Nintendo DS). Lara Croft uncovers proof of the existence of the mythical hammer of the Norse god Thor (a viking God), a weapon rumored to have the power to smash mountains into valleys and destroy the gods themselves.

Setting an epic journey around the globe in motion, Lara visits the ruins of ancient civilizations, collecting clues that lead her to a forgotten power that could lay waste to all civilization. Exploiting the power and capabilities of next generation consoles, Lara must hunt for clues across larger than life environments, seen with exquisite, detailed clarity. Solving multifaceted puzzles, facing foes both animal and supernatural, players have the aid of enhanced weapons and abilities, as they explore the secrets of the past.
